Before I go into detail here, let us differentiate sales from marketing. Marketing is the process wherein you get in touch with your prospects. Once you get in touch with your target market you now tell them about the product or service you offer.
In running an online business you should remember that marketing is done slowly, bit by bit, this is how you will keep your customers fascinated. Once you have captured your audience’s fascination they will be asking for more information. Hopefully this conversation you have with your customer will lead to sales. The amount of sales you make is vital when you are running an online business.
Running an online business means you are going to deal with numbers. So, book keeping is also important when you are running an online business. Make sure that you keep your book keeping process as simple as possible. Do not go out there and waste precious money on the latest software for book keeping because you might get confused and lost.
The requirements for book keeping is simple, you just need a small cash book to show what comes in and what goes out, that’s it! Running an online business may also require you to hire the services of an accountant to do the balance sheet and profit and loss account. Do not be terrified of hiring an accountant because they don’t charge that much for small businesses.
