Squidoo Community – Various Ways to Engage in the Squidoo Community

Today I will discuss with you how you can engage in the Squidoo community. Engaging in the Squidoo community can be done in various ways. You can either:

- Leave a comment on the lens
- Rate the lens
- Joining the lens master’s fan club
- Join SquidU forums

All of these things I have mentioned are simple ways to engage in the Squidoo community. So let us get started.

LEAVING A COMMENT

Even if you are not a Squidoo member you can still leave comments for as long as the lens-master allow it. To leave comments you have to:

a. Go to the lens where you want to comment.

b. Scroll down the lens. The Lens Guest book is usually located at the bottom of the page.

c. Once you have located the Guest book, compose the comment that you would like to leave.

d. After you have composed your comment and you are happy about it, you can go ahead and proceed to the next step which is entering the captcha. The captcha would be the crazy letters or numbers on the page. Key in the captcha that you see.

e. So we have done the comment and also keyed-in the captcha, last part is to click on the “Add comment” button that you see.

RATE LENS

Now for this activity, you do need an account with Squidoo. You need to open an account with Squidoo if you want to rate lenses you have read.

a. On top the Squidoo lens, right below the title you would see set of stars. You will use these stars to rate the the lens.

b. If you move your mouse pointer on the stars you will see the equivalent of each star. It would be:
1 – I can do better
2 – Jury’s out
3 – Pretty damn good
4 – Splendiferous
5 – Awesometastic

c. So click on how many stars the lens is worth and that’s it! You were able to rate the lens already.

BE A FAN

There would come a time that a lens would be so interesting that you want to be part of it. You want to make sure that you get an update from that specifically from that lens-master.

So here’s what you can do:

a. On the right side you will see the lens-master’s name and an excerpt of some sort from his profile. What you have to do is click on the lens-master’s name.

b. As soon as you click on the lens-master’s name you should be moved to another page. This page will contain the lens-master’s bio, the lenses he created, his fans, and other information that you might find useful.

c. On the right side, you will see a box like thing that says, “Join my fanclub. Click that box to join that lens-master’s fanclub.

d. After you click that box you would be asked if you are sure you want to join that fan club. So if you are sure then just click on the box that says, “ Yes, continue.”

e. After you do that then you will be notified every time there is a Squidcast from that lensmaster.

JOIN SQUIDU FORUMS

Joining discussions through forums is an effective way of getting involved. Squidoo has its own forum which you can join.

a. First, you have to type in www.squidU.com on your browser.

b. On top of the page look for “Discussion Forum.”

c. After that you will see a page with the list of different forums. Also on top of that you will see three tabs which states:

- Index
- Search
- Log-in

Click on the “Log-in”tab.

d. Now, you have to log in to the SquidU forum using your user name and password. Take note that this is not your email address. The user name is different, so if you are not sure what that is, you can go back to your Squidoo profile to check it out.

e. If this is your first time in the forum, it is best to introduce yourself. Locate the discussion that says, “New” or “Introduce Yourself.” Click on that and join the discussion.

f. It is important that you do not engage in lens promotion or self promotion because for sure your post would be deleted.
