Make your Business Stand-out – 7 Tips to make your Online Business Stand-out from the Crowd

Share

One of the best features of the internet is that it opens you up to a large number of potential customers, since your exposure is worldwide. Of course if there is a positive side then there is also a negative side which is you are also susceptible to massive amounts of potential competitors. And we are talking about an ocean of competitors. So, how are you going to make your business stand-out?

The good old days are gone, days when your business could be quietly unique in your local market; now, unique means you have to make your business stand-out in the global market. The upside is that if you are truly unique and you are able to make your business stand-out, the internet can boost your growth and make life complicated for your would-be competitors.

Here are some tips to help you make your business stand-out:

1. Make you business stand-out by creating your own USP (Unique Selling Proposition). A Unique Selling Proposition or simply termed as USP by marketers is a positioning statement.

Consider your USP as your secret sauce, this is the special element your business uses to prevent becoming a “me too” company. Your USP will make your business stand-out.

In creating your USP you should be able to answer the question, “what makes this business different from all the others?” which is a question each consumer unconsciously asks before spending his or her money with you.

2. Differentiation is an important factor if you want to make your business stand-out. Some marketers might suggest that differentiation is nearly the same thing as having a Unique Selling Proposition. However, “differentiation” is a bit distinct.

Keep in mind that your Unique Selling Proposition is more of a marketing term. This is more like a slogan, which will inform your customers very clearly and distinctly what you do and who you do it for.

Differentiation, on the other hand, is the whole package of action and services that backs-up your USP. So, if you claim that you are offering fashionable clothes to people who want to be fashion models (which is your USP) then you better come up with a website that looks and feels like it does (which is your differentiation).

There are plenty of businesses which often have a great USP however they lack the differentiation factor.

Differentiation is a factor that cannot be overlooked because this will be a big help if you want to make your business stand-out. You need both USP and differentiation working harmoniously to make your business stand-out.

3. Make your business stand-out through niche marketing. One technique you can do to make your business stand-out above the crowd is not to get taller but to reduce the crowd you move in.

It is difficult to succeed if you are catering to a wide customer base. Shape an industry or two and become the most dominant player serving that industry.

You can make your business stand-out through niche marketing, because your prospects are unable to find replacements to the product or service that you offer. A really nice bonus to this approach is you can command your prices when you specialize in something.

4. Make your business stand-out by offering a powerful guarantee. Set yourself apart with a real and believable guarantee. Have one that means something to consumers.

Keep your focus on offering a cure for common customer frustrations. Offer a powerful guarantee, so strong that no one else in the same industry is able to do it. For sure this will make your business stand-out. Come out and boldly announce that you guarantee results and watch what happens.

5. Make your business stand-out by offering unrivaled service. Promote something out of the ordinary like unrivaled service. If you are operating an online store, the service you provide may not be noticed by your prospects who are simply browsing around your website.

However, it will be most definitely be noticed by your customers who will tell other people about the great service they received from your online store. So, do not be afraid to over-deliver or over-serve your customers, because that service is what will make your business stand-out.

6. Make your business stand-out by producing an advertising that is something out of the ordinary. There are a lot of businesses who use this method to get noticed, but not all of them use this strategy effectively.

Some businesses go for the shock value alone (they are after the “buzz factor” the advertisement will surely create) while other businesses more effectively tie the shock value with their actual product or service.

7. Make your business stand-out by letting people know just how different you are. Once you find your chosen strategy or combination of strategies to differentiate your business, all of your advertising and promotion efforts should be centered on shouting about that difference.

Commit and stay focused on what you have planned, stick to it and resist the temptation to wander off in the next new direction.

In your goal to make your business stand-out, time and patience is required. The pay-off, however, is what differentiates the winners from the losers in this big online marketing game.
