Share

According to research most online users who read blogs, 90 percent of those people are more like lurkers. Meaning they do not do anything they just basically read without commenting on your post. Getting blog comments is important most especially if your blog is used as a marketing tool.

The number of comments on a blog shows readers how active the blog is. That is the main reason why getting comments is highly important for blogs. Getting comments, like a lot of them creates a buzz about the blog. However remember that getting comments does not mean that your blog or website receives high traffic.

Getting comments is dependent on the quality of the article that you post on your blog. Comments on a blog show the level of interaction a blog has with its readers and are very important in determining the devotion of guests and readers. Here are a few tips that can definitely help in increasing comments on a blog.

Getting Comments Tip#1: You readers and guests to comment

You know the passage, “Ask and you shall receive,” is very much effective in getting comments. If you invite your readers to leave comments then there is a very high possibility that they will do exactly that.

If you end your posts with something like, “What do you think? Or “Is your experience the same as ours?” or “We’d love to know what you–our customers and prospective customers–think about this, so please leave a comment below.” This is a very simple and very easy way to getting comments. I mean it is not like you are forcing readers to leave comments or anything like that.

Give it a try you will see for yourself what happens. So, if you find it helpful feel free to comment on this post after you have tried it out.

Getting Comments Tip# 2: Ask readers some questions

Getting comments also involves posting a specific question you can ask readers. Including questions in the heading part is a sure way of getting comments or response from readers. What you do is you basically set a question in their mind from the first they lay their eyes on your post.

Getting Comments Tip# 3: Write open-ended posts

Try not to be Mr. Know-it-all in your posts leave some space for your readers to post some more on the topic. If you try to say everything in one go, then chances are your readers are not going to comment anymore because you have said it all.

It is not like you are purposely leaving a lot of things unsaid, it’s just that you want to leave some space for your readers where they can state their own opinion, Hence, you are getting more comments.

Getting Comments Tip# 4: Interact with comments posted

How can you encourage your readers to post their comments if you are not leaving any of that yourself? If one of your readers leaves a comments try to make the most out of it by interacting with that person. Admittedly it will get more difficult to get back to your commentors as your blog grows, so while it is on its early stages go out there and show your readers that their comments are valued.

Leaving comments and interacting with your readers creates the impression to other readers that your comments page is an active one. As the activity grows then the less active you become because you will soon find some of your own readers will respond to questions coming from other reader.

Getting Comments Tip# 5: Endorse your blog posts on Facebook and Twitter

While numerous automatic feed solutions are available out there which you can use to send your company’s blog posts to your Facebook Fan Page or to your followers via Twitter. It would also be helpful if you can create your own customized Status Update or Tweet informing people of a new blog post and encourage them to visit and comment.

Getting Comments Tip# 6: Who comments the most

You can make a list of your top commentors on the sidebar of your blog. It is also advisable that you make a list of your most recent posts on the sidebar as well. Both of these help commentors get a little idea of what is going on in your blog, like the conversations going on in there.

Getting Comments Tip# 7: Return the favor

You can return the favor to your readers by posting your own comments on their blog whenever it is applicable. Just like you your readers, customers, prospects, or anyone likes it a lot when they comments on their posts. So return the favor to these people and make them feel valued by taking the time to read their blog and posting a comment.

There is a big possibility that the person who wrote their comment on your page has a lot in common with you. This will be proven useful in the long run so do not overlook this strategy because this is how you go about getting comments.
