Developing a Website – 7 Things to Remember When Developing a Website
So after a few obstacles here and there you finally have a product to sell online and you are ready to launch it. There are plenty of ways and means to launch a product you can like circulate a press release or purchase some ads on Google Adsense. All of these methods are okay but of course there is always a strategy that is best suited for your business.
But since we are talking about the internet here let us focus more on online businesses. Many online entrepreneurs would have to say that the first thing you do to start an online business is to set-up a home base. In short we are talking about developing your own website. Your website is the one place where people can find you and your product online. Some place where you can direct attention and drive traffic towards.
If you have a new product like what I have mentioned earlier the best way to promote it is by developing your own website. The reason why you are developing a website is to show people or to tell people about this product that you are selling.
This article will talk about how you can go about developing a website that is effective when it comes to promoting your product.
Developing a Website Tip# 1: Include a blog
Including a blog in your website helps prospects and customers alike. You can create a blog such as it is a sub-directory. On your website you can actually include a link saying something like “find out more,” this is where you will link your blog.
Your blog should make use of the usual layout. The blog that you will use for your website will include news, more about the product and other stuff that is highly relevant to your website content. It can also be used as the place from which to create content that will attract links and traffic.
Developing a Website Tip# 2: Focus your attention on value
Every online entrepreneur wants to know that people are talking about their product. They want to know that people who purchased their product are spreading the word about your product to their friends and family. You want word-of-mouth to spread naturally and ripple outwards.
For you to achieve this goal you need to increase the value you offer to everyone who lands on your website. In developing a website you must remember that it should focus on the value you can provide people. It should be extremely engaging and incredibly tangible.
Developing a Website Tip# 3: Make sure to include click prompters
For additional usability, it is advisable that you include small yet still visible ‘next’ or ‘continue’ buttons somewhere on each page. These buttons will push your customers to move around your website towards a definite end.
It is just like reading a book wherein people turn the pages and taking your visitor on a journey through a story. That is the reason why you should consider developing a website really well because if you do so then your visitors will keep clicking and they would see what you want them to see.
Developing a Website Tip# 4: Opt-in form
It does not matter what product you are selling the important thing is that you constantly update your database by collecting emails from prospects. Your prospects may not buy from your website the same day they visited it, the important thing is that you stay in touch with them.
In developing a website having an opt-in email is really helpful. You can set up an opt-in email newsletter to share news about the book or general research tips on a certain topic.
Developing a Website Tip# 5: Pass-the-message
Many of your visitors would want to share what they have learned so adding a pass-the-massage button would be good. Make it easy for people, by including a simple email-a-friend form on the last page or somewhere on your website.
These buttons are sometimes overlooked; do not underestimate their ability to generate word of mouth traffic. If your website receives like 10,000 guests a day and at least 1 percent of those guests uses the pass-the-message button that you have then that means you get additional 100 people who might visit your website.
Developing a Website Tip# 6: Create “THE” experience
Catch the attention of your customers by featuring thought-provoking blog posts. We all know that all your posts are beneficial in one way or another however there are some which are better for encouraging massive word of mouth.
Your goal as an entrepreneur is to make your website a “buzz” creator. The whole website functions as a congruent whole. Every page has a certain mood. Developing a website means that you are trying to draw out a specific thought in the reader’s mind.
Developing a Website Tip# 7: Support the social networks
This can be done by including social media buttons on the side of your website asking your guests to follow you on Twitter, Tweet about your product, or join your Facebook fan page, etc.
