However how can you go about improving website traffic if you have no idea where it comes from or you have not analyzed website traffic? Aside from providing quality content which is highly important, there are ways you can alter your website in order to optimize your page views and make sure that you are attracting more prospects to your website.

To operate a successful website you have got to look at the traffic your website receives, this is basic. However checking traffic is not just about checking how many people view your site each and every day, in a week, in a month, etc. What I am trying to say is that there is so much more to analyzing website traffic than just checking the numbers there are other helpful ways to analyze website traffic.

In my opinion a lot of people do not know the importance of being able to analyze website traffic. Again, when we say analyze website traffic it is not just about the number of people who goes to your website. Numbers are not much use to you as an entrepreneur. So today we will go over some things that have something to do with analyzing your website.

Analyze Website Traffic #1: Is your business getting in touch with the right people?

An extensive research was done even before you went about publishing your website. In the research that you have done you went about defining your target market and designed your website to reach those people. However that is it, it is a mere hypothesis. You basically made assumptions as to how you can reach your market.

But you spend some more time to analyze website traffic then you would be able to verify as what exactly is happening. Who are these people coming to my website? Once you analyze website traffic then you will find out if these people are your target customers.

Analyze Website Traffic #2: What are these people doing in my website?

I am pretty sure that your website is receiving visitors every day. But did you ever stop and think as to what are these visitors doing? Do they hit the home page and leave? Do they go right away to your free section and never glance through your sale items?

If you analyze website traffic you will see how people proceed through your website, where they use their time, what they do, and any problems they may be encountering. The information that you will get will help you improve your website, at the same time improve guest experience and of course sales.

Analyze Website Traffic #3: Where are these people coming from?

We all know that there are numerous ways to drive traffic to your website. You may have search engine optimized your content, engaged in article marketing, and developed reciprocal links from key partners. You may be involved in a pay-per-click campaign.

Once you analyze website traffic then you will soon find out as to which campaign you are doing is effective. Once you figure out as to what is working then you can let go of all others that are not working and in the process you save marketing money.

Analyze Website Traffic #4: Are there trends?

When we talk about trends, it is all about knowing who is visiting your website, how are these people interacting with each other, what are these people looking for, etc. If you analyze website traffic then you would be able to answer the earlier questions I have mentioned.

You will be able to react proactively to changing patterns, rather than re-actively scrambling to fix a situation after it has become a major problem.

Analyze Website Traffic #5: Are you using your information to test something?

Successful businesses become a success because they are continuously improving their website by introducing something new. Something new can be trivial things that other entrepreneurs overlook, however if you put together all these trivial things that you do it will add up and it will help your website grow.

When you analyze website traffic then you will find out exactly what needs to be done to improve your website. But remember that the information that you get when you analyze website traffic can only be valuable if you use it to help you reach that situation where you are constantly testing and improving your business.

Analyze Website Traffic #6: What is the most popular facet of you website?

This one is like the easiest and the most obvious however a lot of marketers overlook it. It is important to know what facet or which content of your website people are going after. Your website content is at the heart of your website. This is what attracts people to visit and browse through your website.

If you analyze website traffic, you will see for yourself the content people are looking at and in doing do you should be able to improve it further. This should go a long way in helping you to fine-tune the content on your website so that you give your visitors more of what they like and want and less or nothing of what they do not like so much.

In analyzing website traffic you will find out as to which products you are offering is actually converting into money. This should allow you to focus more on products that are selling or you can redo your other products in order for them to perform as well.
