Outsourcing is a great chance especially for the individuals who are lucky to have the job and its more advantageous for the company who is doing this kind of strategy. Why? Read Outsourcing – 7 Benefits of Outsourcing to your Online Business to find out the wonders of outsourcing.
As an online entrepreneur you have aspirations of growing your online business in the near future or stay where you are and keep things simple. For most us who are involved in online business, the goal is to develop and expand, but there are times we find the amount of work overwhelming. This is when outsourcing becomes useful.
“Outsourcing is not a religion. You don’t have to do it,” says chairman of the National Outsourcing Association (NOA) Martyn Hart. However, outsourcing is advisable if you plan on expanding your business but cannot see, to find the time to do everything. There are a lot of online businesses who are unable to maintain all of the traditional functions to a high standard, and adapt to growth, so they turn to outsourcing.
A business can outsource pretty much any aspect of their business, from processes such as recruitment, or infrastructure such as IT. “Finance accounting outsourcing is fashionable at the moment; human resources outsourcing also,” Martyn Hart, the chairman of the National Outsourcing Association, said.
Here are some steps you can follow if you want to take advantage of outsourcing:
1. Before you go about outsourcing think carefully if you really need to outsource. The most important consideration is where outsourcing fits into your business plan. Once you have identified areas of your business that you think might benefit from outsourcing, you need to work out whether they are something that you are particularly good at or it is better to hire someone.
There are some facets of business a company is really good at; this is what we call their key competencies. Now other operations that you feel you do not excel in is better left to the experts.
2. Make sure that the foundations are right before you start outsourcing. Foundations are basically the contract and the service level agreement.
In the contracts that you will be writing you need to make sure that the pricing is stated clearly, what are the contingency plans if ever something happens and how you will manage the changes that might happen in the future. This written agreement between you and the group or individual you will be outsourcing will help promote a harmonious working relationship.
3. Outsourcing requires you to come up with game plan. Know what portion of your search marketing you are planning to outsource. It is advisable that you keep your website maintenance and design elements in-house, but appoint an outside company to supervise your paid advertising or SEO.
Formulating a plan for what you would like to outsource means you can go and ask different companies for the same thing. The logic behind is that you will be comparing one outsourcing company to the other before you make your decision.
4. Outsourcing involves doing your homework. Before you even enter into an agreement or sign a contract you need to make sure that you understand everything that is involved. In short you should know what you are getting into.
It is crucial for any entrepreneur to do a research on what they are getting into, what the effects are on your online presence, and if those techniques could possibly get you banned.
Outsourcing is best suited for entrepreneurs who do not have the required skill nor do they have the time to learn these things (advanced skills). However, if you are not going to invest time in grasping the ins and outs of online marketing (basic skills) then do not even venture in online business because you will just be disappointed.
5. If you are outsourcing make sure that you know who you are hiring. Don’t send a check to the first cheap company that comes along. In most cases, and definitely with SEM, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ask your potential partner for credentials, write-ups about their previous work and if available links to reviews.
Take a look at SEMCompare.com for independent reviews about SEM/SEO companies. This is helpful if you are looking for reviews. But keep in mind that not everyone is listed here but, just because they are not listed there it does not mean they are not efficient.
6. Follow your better judgment when outsourcing. When you are in the process of hiring someone you get to talk to them on the phone. When you speak with people on the phone sometimes you like them, sometimes you do not.
If you follow your better judgment and consider the companies that know what they are talking about, sound professional, and talk like they want you to succeed, for sure you will be have a harmonious working relationship with this person or people.
7. Last but not the least, when outsourcing you need to set clear goals. Make sure that the person or company you are outsourcing is on the same page as you. Spell out your goals, wants, and needs in paper and reinforce that understanding in the sales process.
